TURNING COMMUNITIES INTO FRIENDS, ADVOCATES, AND ALLIES

About

Human Connections is a platform for storytelling. Our focus is on racial justice, human rights, and indigenous communities’ issues in the United States and around the globe. We share our work through blog posts, poetry, stories, and reels, which are key elements of this page. Furthermore, this page is a space to recognize each other’s struggles, foster genuine human connections, share stories of resiliency, and advocate for a new era of peace and global solidarity to create a just and compassionate world.

Tasneem Sultan is a dedicated community organizer, peace advocate, and human rights activist, bringing a wealth of experience cultivated through years of collaboration with diverse ethnic, religious, cultural, and advocacy groups across the United States. Inspired by her unwavering faith and values, Tasneem is deeply committed to equality, justice, and service to humanity. Through the impactful platform of the Human Connections blog and storytelling page, Tasneem endeavors to nurture sustainable cross-cultural compassion and human dignity. Her focus is on raising awareness about critical issues such as human rights, systemic racism, economic justice, and climate change through the powerful mediums of storytelling and community organizing.
Tasneem co-founded a NJ-based nonprofit, "La Convivencia," devoted to the ideals of coexistence and dialogue. Serving as the director, she has successfully orchestrated annual Social Justice & Interfaith conferences at Princeton University, NJ, drawing hundreds of participants in 2018 and 2019. Her visionary leadership also led to the establishment of 'Connecting With Humanity,' an online platform engaging youth in social justice campaigns, advocacy work, and community service opportunities.
In addition to her other experiences, she also had the privilege of serving on the Parent & Family Intercultural Advisory Council at the University of Maryland and on the advisory committee for Young Audiences New Jersey & Eastern Pennsylvania, where she provided input on ways to improve the multicultural programming and support for families. Furthermore, she demonstrated impactful leadership as a director at the Interfaith Round Table, fostering compassionate and candid interfaith dialogues. Currently, she is a Steering Committee member at the  Jewish Voice for Peace-Detroit chapter, actively participates in the communication committee at Meta Peace Team, Detroit, and holds key positions in multiple groups, including the core committee in BRIDGE of Evansville, IN. Notably, she recently co-founded the Palestine Solidarity Coalition Southern IN to raise awareness about Palestine's rich culture and history. The coalition is dedicated to addressing the ongoing humanitarian crises and injustices that persist in the region's past.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Tasneem was honored with the Mercer County (N.J.) Women of Achievement Award by the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women in 2019. She was also recognized in New Jersey's 2019 State Governor's Jefferson Honorees for Justice award. Tasneem's life goal is to inspire meaningful change and mobilize a broad spectrum of people to advocate for justice, human dignity, and peace.
